Hello, Mungo here. I thought I'd take this opportunity to tell you about our happy hour! Hold on though, it's not quite as it may seem...
We here at Assemble Fest HQ are constantly exploring initiatives that we think will help engage local residents in the festival. It's not easy, and I think theatre-makers across the nation regularly encounter a number of obstacles discouraging audiences from taking a trip to the theatre, be it ticket price, lack of information about the show or marketing that seems dull and distant. It's our ambition to make sure anyone who wants to engage in the festival is able to, regardless of age, income or even free time on the day. This is why we'll be running our very own happy hour!
For a couple of hours on festival day (Saturday 3rd May), we'll offer a pay-what-you-can scheme. This means that if you see a show in that time you won't pay full ticket price, but instead pay what you are able to, and what you think the performance deserves. No questions asked, no catches – just pay what you can, and enjoy the show.
Theatre ticket prices are expensive – we know. So this is a real chance to watch some quality work at a fair price, set by you. We'll also be offering discounted tickets through pre-sales, meaning even if you buy a ticket, it's not going to cost you more than a cup of coffee from one of our lovely traders on the avenue!
We've got lots of other ideas for the festival, including a trader treasure hunt, magicians and more, so stay tuned – there'll be more rabbits pulled out of the hat than you can shake your wand at!
